PURPOSE:To obtain the compact constitution by axially supporting a power taking-out shaft onto the front part of an engine body and a cover covering the front part of the engine body and connecting the power taking-out shaft with a crankshaft through a reduction gear mechanism, in the constitution in which the power taking-out shaft is installed in front of the engine. CONSTITUTION:As for an engine 1 mounted onto a tractor, a balancer driving gear 9 and a power taking-out chain sprocket 10 are fitted integrally onto the front large diameter part 7a of a crankshaft 7 which is exposed forwardly, penetrating through a cylinder block 2 and the front part of a crank case 3. In this case, a power taking-out shaft 14 is arranged in parallel to the crankshaft 7 under the crankshaft 7, and the rear edge is supported onto the crankcase 3 through a bearing 13. Further, the front edge part of the power taking-out shaft 14 is supported onto an engine front cover 19 through a bearing 17 and an oil seal 18, and the power taking-out shaft 14 is connected with the crankshaft 7 through a reduction mechanism consisting of the chain sprockets 10 and 15 and a chain 16.
