PURPOSE:To obtain a composite bar suited for many applications by packing powder plated with Ni, etc. of the same metals as those of a pipe of Ti group, V group based metals or Ni and other metal based metallic powder and Ti group and V group based metallic powder in said pipe. CONSTITUTION:The powder of metals of Ti group and V group plated with metals and alloys of Ni, Co, Pt groups or powder of metallic alloys of Ni, Co, Pt groups and powder of metals and alloys of Ti group and V group are packed in a pipe of said metals and alloys. Such pipe is reduced with a swaging machine and is heated to relieve work strains and to sinter the powders to each other, whereby the sintered metal and the pipe are firmly bound by mutual diffusion. If necessary, the reducing and heating are repeated. This composite bar is adaptable as a blank material for, for examples, bus bars for electrolysis, suspension means for plating as well as for spring materials and bolt materials and further welding electrodes and build up welding electrodes for corrosion resistant metals and alloys. |
