PURPOSE:To eliminate the possibility of infiltration and propagation of germs while improving strength and fixedness to the peripheral soft tissue by forming a two-layer ring-shaped structure with the outer layer of porous ceramics and the internal layer of fine ceramics. CONSTITUTION:An artificial trachea has a two-layer ring-shaped structure with the outer surface consisting of porous ceramics and the internal surface consisting of fine ceramics. Here various kinds of ceramic material can be applied unless harmfulness is shown in a living body, and for instance, calcium phosphate system ceramics, alumina system ceramics, zirconium system ceramics, etc., can be used, but of these ceramics, the calcium phosphate system ceramics of high biological affinity, especially hydroxyapatite, is preferable. Besides, the porous and fine ceramics may be composed not necessarily of the same ceramic material. |
