In the case of a method for producing a scatter picture by applying coloured scattering material to an adhesive surface, a film having an adhesive surface which is covered by a protective layer is stuck onto a base sheet without folds or blisters in such a way that the protective layer points outwards. Then the pattern of the scatter picture is inscribed in the protective layer or applied to the latter. The protective layer is then engraved or cut along the lines of the pattern and/or profile and is at least partly removed. The adhesive surface of the film exposed in this manner is provided with coloured scattering material, leading to production of a scatter picture.
