Cell intended for the electrochemical production of aqueous hydrogen peroxide in an alkaline medium, on an industrial scale, in which an emulsion of oxygen or of air in a solution of sodium hydroxide or of another base is introduced into a first compartment for delivering the fluids (A). This solution passes through a porous cathode (D) made of carbon fibres, in contact with which an oxygen reduction takes place, and this results in the formation of aqueous hydrogen peroxide within the electrolyte in the second cathode compartment (B). The latter is separated from the anode compartment (C) by a separator (E) placed flat against a perforated sheet anode (F) made of nickel or of nickel-plated steel. The carbon fibre cathode is subjected to a preliminary hydrophilisation treatment. <IMAGE>
