PURPOSE:To enlarge an effective housing space for copy paper, by gradually increasing or decreasing the diameter of a coiled spring for pushing a copy paper rest plate upwards. CONSTITUTION:A coiled spring 3 for energizing the internal plate 2 of a cassette 1 is shaped as a cone or a constricted drum. The diameter and pitch of the coiled spring 3 are appropriately changed so that its load-deflection characteristic is linear and the height of tight contact is approximate to the diameter of the wire of the coil. As a result, the effective housing space of the cassette 1 can be enlarged.
