<p>PURPOSE:To reduce water content of metal hydroxide economically in good efficiency, by adding a specific anionic surfactant to an aqueous slurry of water- insoluble or hardly soluble metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:An anionic surfactant shown by formulaI(wherein Z1 and Z2 are H, or alkyl group and Z1+Z2 is 6-28, R is 2-4C saturated alkylene group, X is SO3M1, PO3M2 or CH3COOM3, wherein M1 is H, K, Na or NH4, M2 is K or Na, M3 is K or Na) is added to an aqueous slurry of water insoluble or hardly soluble metal hydroxide. This surfactant is prepared by a method wherein 2- 4C alkylene oxide is attached to a compound shown by formula II in the presence of a catalyst to prepare a compound shown by formula III and the obtained compound is esterified with sulfuric or phosphoric acid or carboxymethylated and, if necessary, the obtained reaction product is neutralized.</p> |
