PURPOSE:To control the increase of internal resistance during storage by forming a three-layer positive electrode consisting of silver (II) oxide, silver (I) oxide, and silver layers using the silver (II) oxide powder treated by corrosion inhibitors. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 is formed by treating the silver (II) oxide powder using corrosion inhibitors, press-molding it, reducing the surface layer of a molding substance obtained, forming the layer 3 of silver (I) oxide around the silver (II) oxide layer 2, reducing the surface layer of this silver (I) oxide layer 3, and a silver layer 4 around the silver (I) oxide layer 3. In such a positive electrode 1, silver is coated with the film of the corrosion inhibitors, oxidation is prevented, the disappearance of the silver layer is controlled, and internal resistance does not increase during storage. As the corrosion inhibitors which are used to treat the silver (II) oxide powder, organic compounds with polar groups containing nitrogen, sulfur, or oxygen, for example, benzotriazole, 2-phenylquinoline, thiourea, tannin and with a property of being absorbed in silver atoms are used. |
