<p>PURPOSE:To fix the nitrogen in air easily at an ordinary temp. and atmospheric pressure by bringing an aq. alkaline soln. of aldehyde into contact with catalysts of copper, silver, and gold in a nitrogen-contg. atmosphere such as air. CONSTITUTION:In the atmospheric air or nitrogen atmosphere, copper, siliver, gold which are Ib group elements or their compds., for example, copper oxide, silver oxide and the like are added as catalysts into an aq. alkaline soln. of formaldehyde under agitation. C2H5NO is formed in the soln. and the gaseous phase and nitrogen in the atmospheric air or the like is fixed as C2H5NO.</p> |
