PURPOSE:To obtain a developer superior in fixing performance, storage stability, etc., by carrying out, in a solvent to be used for a carrier, copolymerization of a multifunctional monomer, a monomer having a specified polar group, and a higher alkyl ester monomer, each monomer being (meth)acrylate. CONSTITUTION:A monomer (A) having multifunctions and cross-linking ability, such as ethylene glycol di(meth)acrylate, a monomer (B) having a polar group, such as OH or halogen, represented by the formulaI[in which R is H or CH3, (n) is an integer of 1-20, and X is halogen]and controlling the charging polarity of the resin, and a monomer (C) represented by the formula II[in which R is as R in the formulaI, A is -COOCmH2m+1, -OCOCmH2m+1, and (m) is an integer of 6-20]contributing to enhancing dispersion stability and fixing performance of the resin are mixed in (1-20):(1-50):(20-90)wt. ratio of A:B:C and polymerized in a carrier solvent consisting essentially of a petroleum-derived aliphatic hydrocarbon or its halogenide in presence of a polymerization initiator, thus permitting the obtained liquid developer to form a high-quality image enhanced in storage stability and fixing performance, etc. of the toner and to be suitable for fabrication of a printing plate high in printing resistance and color reproductivity for use in offset printing. |
