<p>In the parent patent the installation comprises an open-topped, vertical cylindrical vessel in which the jelly is heated and agitated and from which it is pumped. A temp. sensing probe is installed in the vessel adjacent to the inlet of the pump. In the improvement the top edge of the vessel is bridged diametrally by a flat plate with parallel longitudinal edges. Holes are made through the plate to accommodate the vertical shaft from an agitator drive motor carried by the plate, for the suction branch of the pump and for a support for the temp. probe. In transverse cross-section the plate has a profile in the shape of a shallow, flat-topped capital omega. The two raised side branches of the omega form longitudinal gutters along the edges of the plate. Each gutter is of radiused, partic. semi-circular cross-section. Each gutter is used as a hinge channel in which is pivoted the straight edge of cover panel in the shape of a segment of a circle equal in dia. to the top edge of the vessel. The two cover panels can be pivoted about their hinge channels to offer access for cleaning inspecting and servicing inside the vessel.</p> |
