PURPOSE:To produce thin flakes of an amorphous metal requiring no posttreatments by providing a movable shielding plate having holes of a prescribed shape between an ejection nozzle for a molten alloy and a quick cooling roll. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 13 ejected through a nozzle 11 is passed through holes 16a, 16b... by moving of a beltlike shielding plate 16 opened with suitable holes, whereby a constant volume of the molten metals 13a, 13b... are dropped onto the surface 12a of a roll 12, and thin flakes of amorphous alloys 14, 14a are produced continuously by quick cooling. The thin flakes of specific shapes consisting of the amorphous alloy 14 requiring no postworking are produced by this. The plate 16 may be of a disc shape. |
