PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a valve moving mechanism, by supporting valve lifters slidably on a cylinder head to simultaneously push the ends of parallel spindles of plural intake and exhaust valves and by causing one valve lifter to simultaneously open or close plural valves. CONSTITUTION:When a valve lifter 52 is pushed down by a cam 64 on an intake cam shaft 60 through a pad 68 in the process of intake, the valve lifter uniformly and simultaneously pushes the ends 32 of spindles of valves 16 downward through pads 58. As a result, valve springs 40 are compressed to open the valves 16 to introduce the intake mixture into the combustion chamber through an intake passage 24. In the process of exhaust, a cam 82 pushes a valve lifter 70 through a pad 84 to simultaneously open three exhaust valves 18. |
