PURPOSE:To transfer and print uneven surface patterns on the surface of an object to be printed by such a simple process wherein the object made of metal material to be printed and a metallic plate electrode having uneven surface patterns are closely and opposingly arranged under the existence of electrolyte and a current is caused to flow through them. CONSTITUTION:At the bottom of an electrolyzing tank 1 filled with an electrolyte such as an aqueous solution of nickel sulfate, etc., a plate electrode made of metal 4 having uneven surface patterns 4a is provided. And an object to be printed 3 made of metal material which can be colored by an electrochemical method is opposingly arranged close to the plate electrode 4 through an electric insulation object 5 such as silk cloth that allows electrolyte to penetrate through and a voltage is impressed between the object to be printed 3 and the plate electrode 4. By this, the conductivity of a protruded part 11 of the uneven surface patterns 4a is differentiated from that of a recessed part 12 due to the difference between the depth of electrolyte layers in respective parts d1 and d2 and the image of the recessed part is printed in light color and that of the protruded part is printed in dark color on the surface of the object to be printed 3 in response to the uneven surface patterns of the plate electrode 4. |
