A description is given of a wick lamp for liquid fuel and for the use, in particular, of thin wicks. Since because it burns down the wick has to be drawn up in specific time intervals it is provided for the purpose of achieving the object of producing a wick lamp of simple and inexpensive design in which the wick can be drawn up from the fuel container without any problem that the wick tube has a sleeve which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the tube and has an outwardly projecting handle. The outwardly projecting handle can be used to displace the sleeve downwards, that is to say in the direction of the combustion chamber, for the purpose of drawing the wick up. This action uncovers a sufficiently long wick end which can be gripped without difficulty by hand, by means of pincers/tweezers etc. and drawn further upwards. The sleeve is subsequently pushed upwards again using the handle.
