发明名称 Process for separating off bacterial cell masses from aqueous culture media
摘要 In order to improve the separation of a bacterial cell mass from an aqueous culture solution, the cell mass is pre-concentrated by flotation. For the flotation, bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen gas are employed which are produced in the aqueous suspension by electrolysis. The flotation of the cell mass agglomerates is preferably carried out in several flotation chambers (12, 13), which are separated by walls and which are located one after the other, using quantities of carrier gas which are graded in each case. The addition of a small quantity of alginates or starches to the cell suspension before beginning the flotation permits virtually complete separation of the cell mass in the flotation foam. The blobs of foam which are separated off are significantly less voluminous than are the blobs obtained by customary methods, and this favours their subsequent separation. Owing to the short dwell time of the cell mass in the flotation tank (8), the cell material remains unharmed. <IMAGE>
