The invention relates to a safety handwheel for shafts which are either motor-driven or hand-driven, with a clutch device which can be fitted into the wheel hub. The object of the invention is to design this safety handwheel with simple means so that it can be used in particular on high-speed spindles and so that it is possible to reliably prevent the handwheel from co-rotating, when it is in the disengaged state, or from moving or vibrating at all. The solution to the object according to the invention lies in the fact that the external bushing is mounted on a stationary flange, secured for example on the machine body, and that the internal bushing is connected rigidly to the shaft.
