PURPOSE:To reduce the voltage of an electrolytic cell and to maintain the same to a long life by installing a current collector to a joined body of an ion exchange membrane and a catalytic electrode and covering the parts near the contact parts thereof with a conductive material. CONSTITUTION:In an electrolytic cell wherein salt electrolysis or the like is effected, a current collector is provided to the joined body of an ion exchange membrane and a catalytic electrode, whereby these are formed into one body. Thence, at least the parts near the contact parts of said joined body and the current collector are coated with a conductive material such as Ag by an electroless plating method or the like. Thereby, the contact resistance between the current collector and the catalytic electrode is reduced and the voltage of the electrolytic cell is reduced. |
