PURPOSE:To provide a mold coating material which is free from danger of fire, etc., and provides high coating film strength by compounding acrylic ester resin emulsion and colloidal silica with refractory powder. CONSTITUTION:The mold coating material of the following compsn. to be coated on molds for casting is used: 1.0-4.0pts.wt. emulsion of 8-11 pH out of acrylic ester resin emulsions prepd. by polymn. of acrylic ester monomers such as ethyl, methyl, butyl or the like expressed in term of a resin after removal of volatile components such as moisture, and 1.0-4.0pts.wt. colloidal silica of 1-100mum expressed in term of a silica component, and further 0.05-0.5pt.wt. anionic surfactant are added to 100pts.wt. powder of refractories of zirconium, chromite, fused quartz, graphite, etc., and water is mixed therewith to make the mixture easier to coat. Since no alcohols are used, this material is safe against fire, etc., and the mold coating material having high film strength is obtained. |
