NEW MATERIAL:The oxyacetic acid derivative of formulaI(R<1> is H, halogen, OH, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy; R<2> is H, phenyl, alkyl, or cyclohexyl; n is 1 or 2). EXAMPLE:alpha-[4-(3-Chlorobenzoylaminoethyl)-phenoxy]-alpha-cyclohexyl acetic acid ethyl ester. USE:It has blood lipid level depressing activity, and is useful e.g. as a blood lipid depressant for the remedy of hyperlipemia. It also has antithrombogenetic and antiphlogistic activities, and low toxicity, and is free from side effects against hepatic function. PROCESS:The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the compound of formula II with excess, equimolar, or deficient amount of the compound of formula III (X is halogen atom; R<3> is phenyl, alkyl, or cyclohexyl) in a solvent such as acetone, and if necessary, hydrolyzing the product.
