The title compds.(I; A= C1-3 alkylene, C2-3 alkenylene or alkynylene; R = C1-4 satd. alkyl, C2-4 unsated. alkyl; n>1), and their salts were prepd. by the reaction of II and III for use as blood platelet aggregation inhibitors. Thus, 34.76 g 1-chloromethyl-3,4-dimethylbenzene was reacted with 13.6 g imidazole and 16.8 g NaHCO3 in methanol for 3 hr to give 1-(3,4-dimethylbenzene)imidazole(m.p. 128-130≦̸C).
