PURPOSE:To render the operation of a check valve reliable, by aligning the axis of a valve body along which it is moved with the axis of a hole formed in a fluid passage, and tilting the walls of recesses formed along the axis or in the peripheral portion of the valve body so that drag of fluid is acted axially in a concentrated manner. CONSTITUTION:A valve body 8 is shaped in a conical form at its top 8a and in a substantially square form at its stem 8b. Corner portions 8c of the stems 8b are shaped in an arcuate form so that the valve body 8 can be slided freely in a pipe 1 with a proper clearance to the inner surface of the pipe 1. Further, side portions 9 of the stem 8b are cut off in an arcuate form and in an inclined manner 11 at the portion thereof having a length l1 for affording passages for fluid. Here, if a check valve having such a valve body 8 inserted into a pipe 1 is connected in a fluid passage of a refrigerating cycle, the valve body 8 is moved to close the fluid passage positively while keeping the axis of the valve body 8 in alignment with the axis of the pipe 1 since the drag caused by parallel flow of fluid is acted in the direction of the fluid flow at the peripheral portion of the valve body 8 and remaining force is acted to the inclined surfaces of the valve body 8 in the direction of the axis of the same. |
