PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions for oral care that can complement reduced salivary secretion levels, the composition further having a function that can inhibit the proliferation of oral bacteria.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a composition for oral care containing a substance effective in oral hygiene (a substance with antimicrobial action and bactericidal action) and a substance expressing viscosity (a substance with thickening action, such as a thickener), wherein the viscosity can be controlled by the amount of added water. The invention also provides a composition for oral care that can control remaining levels and/or sustained-release levels of the substance effective in oral hygiene in the oral cavity by the amount of added water. The invention also provides a composition for oral care in which salivary does not affect the change of viscosity. The substance which expresses viscosity has water-retention effect and includes xanthan gum. The substances effective in oral hygiene are plant polyphenol and/or bacteriocin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
