A method of treating aqueous solutions of alkane sulfonic acids to produce a substantially anhydrous product having less than about 3% water is disclosed which may be practiced at atmospheric pressure. An aqueous solution of an alkane sulfonic acid at a preselected temperature below the boiling point of the solution is contacted by a regulated stream of moisture absorbing gas until an anhydrous alkane sulfonic acid product is obtained. The alkane sulfonic acid produced may be collected as a bottoms product.
