PURPOSE:To improve the moisture resistance, by forming a part or whole of one, at least, of flat vessel members of a flat quartz oscillator with glass materials and coating an Si water repellent on the outside surface of the quartz oscillator. CONSTITUTION:Dimethyldichlorosilane 8 is diluted with an organic solvent such as ''Trichlene '' and is applied to the surface of a glass 7. When this glass 7 is subjected to the baking treatment at about 300 deg.C, the moisture resistance and the resistance properties of the surface of the glass 7 which has dimethyldichlorosilane 8 applied as a water reppelent and is treated are improved considerably by the property of the methyl radical as a hydrophobic group because the methyl radical faces to the outside of the surface of the glass 7. At this time, the chloro radical reacts on water to form hydrochloric acid 10, and this hydrochloric acid is volatilized and erased by heating. A part of chemical formula is coupled chemically with metallic atoms of Si and etc. in components of the glass 7 by this reaction, and a coating film 9 having a strong water repellence is formed on the surface of the glass 7. |
