The invention relates to an apparatus for setting veneer or plastic edges on edge-gluing machines working in a continuous process for the furniture industry or the like. In this apparatus, the edges (2) are fed in strip form or as tape from an edge magazine (1) to a gluing or pressing point and are pressed there onto the workpiece (16) travelling along. In order to enable the edges to be glued to any sloping or profiled workpiece side edges (17) in an apparatus of this type with minimum design cost, the apparatus referred to has at least one setting guide (4, 5) for the edges (2) to be glued. The setting guide (4, 5) has a guide surface (6, 8, 9) for the edge side surfaces allocated to it. The guide surface (6, 8, 9) projects laterally into the transport path, leading away from the edge magazine (1), of the edges (2) and is at an angle to the edge side surface in the position of the latter when the edge runs into the guide so that, when the edge passes through or runs past the setting guide (4, 5) in the transport direction, it turns this edge transversely to the transport direction. With this setting guide (4, 5), the edges (2) coming out of the magazine can be set relative to their upright position in the magazine (1) in any sloping position which corresponds to the sloping position of the workpiece side edge or side surface (17) to be glued. <IMAGE>
