PURPOSE:To prevent overloading of a power source, by a method wherein, in a printer which excites and drives a magnet, in case a power source voltage for magnet-driving is below a reference voltage, the magnet is brough into non- driving state for a given period of time. CONSTITUTION:A magnet drive circuit 2 is constituted such that it is provided with N pieces of transistors 2a for wire dot magnet driving to excite a coil 2b of a corresponding drive magnet. A power source voltage V is applied, and a comparator 4 compares the voltage VO with a reference voltage VS which is set to slightly higher than a clear printable voltage VR. In the case of VO<=VS, a printer control part 1 stops the opertion of the magnet drive circuit 2 and a carriage drive circuit 3, and a subsequent printing motion is suspended during only T1. If, after suspending, a signal S is consecutively generated, suspending times of T2, T3...Tn (T1<T2<...<Tn) are interposed between printing motions. |
