Apparatus for electrodepositing a metal coating on one side of a metal strip (1), in particular a steel strip, is provided with an anode housing (5, 5') which is connected to a current supply (6) and which comprises at least one, essentially vertical, flat electroplating panel (7, 7'). The metal strip (1), which is wired as cathode, is moved in parallel and vertically past the latter. The electroplating panel (7, 7') has at least one, essentially vertical outlet slit (10, 10') which extends in the direction of travel of the strip and from which the electrolyte is discharged into the gap (S) between electroplating panel (7, 7') and metal strip (1). A pump (8) pumps the electrolyte back into the anode housing. <IMAGE>
