In a heating system, the circulating pump is left switched on for a further short period of time after the occurrence of a switch-off signal, for example because the desired room temperature has been reached, so that the residual heat still present in the boiler when the switch-off signal occurs is conveyed into the system by the circulating flow conveyed further, and so that the heat losses become lower.
