In a method and a device for controlling the throttling orifices of compound carburettors with at least two carburettor stages, the throttling orifices of the carburettor stages, mechanically decoupled from one another, are each adjusted separately by a single servomotor as a function of at least one operating parameter. The servomotor is coupled by way of a coupling firstly with the throttling orifice of the first carburettor stage - when the throttling orifices of the second carburettor stage are freed - and then, if at least one operating parameter exceeds a certain value, with the throttling orifice of the second stage - when the throttling orifice of the first stage is freed (fig. 1). In this way a good facility for adjustment of the carburettor operation and a simple throttling orifice control can be achieved with only one servomotor, an unwanted simultaneous fuel delivery over a plurality of carburettor stages avoided and a smooth take-up of the load obtained in the second stage. <IMAGE>
