PURPOSE:To enable a sodium-sulfur battery to be safely assembled at an ordinary temperature by installing a negative case, which provides a reaction and a supply chamber having a given volumetric ratio, within a negative chamber. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material 2 is packed into a positive case 3, a solid electrolyte 1 is inserted into the case 3, and the positive electrode room is sealed with a gasket 10. Following that, a negative case 4 which is solidified beforehand by filling an inactive gas and Na in it is inserted inside the solid electrolyte 1, a negative lid 11 is placed over the case 4 and subjected to a given welding, and a reaction chamber 7 is exhausted before being sealed, thus assembling of a battery being completed. Here, the volumetric ratio of the internal space of the reaction chamber 7 to that of a supply chamber 6 should be 7:93- 13:87, and is preferred to be 10:90. |
