A tape-spool body is formed from synthetic resin material, each flange of the spool body carrying a portion of a hub. A spool body with a complete hub is formed by joining one flange together with the other by means of a radial relative movement, in order to enclose the end of a self-wound tape or, as the result of a relative axial movement of the flanges in relation to one another, to carry it around a previously wound-on tape spool and release a self-wound spool for removal. An exemplary embodiment, which has a measure for grasping a prewound spool attached to it, is disclosed. <IMAGE>
