NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic KA-6643-X having the following properties and its salt. Appearance: colorless powder. Molecular weight: measured value, 340.1068, calculated value 340.1090 (as C15H20N2O5S). A molecular formula: C14H19N2O5S.Na. Solubility: soluble in water, methanol, insoluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, etc. Color reaction: positive in Ehrlich reaction, and negative in ninhydrin reaction. USE:Exhibiting antibacterial action of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, having strong beta-lactamase inhibiting action. PROCESS:N-Methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine is added to a mold suspension of Streptomyces KC-6643 M-120-165 strain, which is cultivated to give a new mold KC-6643 M-162-175 strain (FERM-P 5890). This strain is cultivated by preferably submerged culture at 3-35 deg.C under aerobic conditions. |
