PURPOSE:To make it possible to thew and restart the operation of a heat pipe by a method wherein a dummy tube is provided within a shell so that an ice melting fluid heat source for heating an intermediate heat medium is circulated through the dummy tube. CONSTITUTION:The dummy tube 5 is arranged in the intermediate heat medium 3 at a position below the heat pipe 4 within the shell 1 so that when the heat pipe 4 freezes, the ice melting fluid heat source is circulated through the dummy tube 5 thereby thawing the heat pipe 4. In this case, the dummy tube 5 is so constructed that the ice melting fluid heat source is supplied into, and discharged from, the dummy tube through a pipe 12 provided with a valve 7 and connected to a chamber defined by channel covers 20 and 20A and through a pipe 13 provided with a valve 8. Accordingly, even when the heat pipe 4 freezes up, it can be thawed and restarted anytime. |
