NEW MATERIAL:A carcinostatic substance TV-110. Appearance: Whitish gray - light brown powder. Melting point: Indifinite, begins to decompose at about 110 deg.C and remarkably decomposes at 200 deg.C or above. Elementary analysis: C, 37-41%; H, 4-6%; N, 4-7%. Solubility: Insoluble in methanol, ethanol, etc. Color reactions: Positive to the Molisch, phenol-sulfuric acid, anthrone-sulfuric reactions, etc. USE:A carcinostatic agent, capable of inhibiting the multiplication of murine Ehrlich ascitic cancers, Ehrilich tuberous carcinoma and sarcoma 180 cancerous cells, and having the immunological activating actions with very low toxicity. PROCESS:A microorganism, e.g. Veillonella alcalescens TF-V strain, (FERM-P No.5876), of the genus Veillonella is cultivated under anaerobic conditions, and a hydrophilic organic solvent is added to the supernatant liquid. The formed precipitate is then separated and purified to give the aimed carcinostatic substance TV-110. |
