PURPOSE:To increase the reading speed with no KANJI (Chinese character) contained and to enhance the reading efficiency, by discriminating whether or not KANJI are written on the same read line of a slip based on the feed data and controlling the number of rotations for a motor that conveys the slip based on the result of the above-mentioned decision. CONSTITUTION:A discriminating circuit 4 of an optical character reader discriminates whether or not KANJI are written on the same line of a slip based on the feed data. Based on this result, a changeover switch 3 is switched. The 1st voltage generating circuit 1 that produces the setting voltage for the reading speed of KANJI plus the 2nd voltage generating circuit 2 that produces the setting voltage for the reading speed of characters excepting KANJI such as English sentence, KANA (Japanese syllabary), etc. are connected to each fixed contact of the switch 3. Then a feedback circuit system including a DC motor driving circuit 5 which drives a DC motor 6 and a tachometer generator 7 is connected to a movable contact of the switch 3. The number of rotations of the motor 6 is controlled according to the result of decision obtained by the circuit 4. Thus the reading efficiency is increased. |
