PURPOSE:To generate a cutting impulse voltage without voltage chopper separately provided by providing a pair of gaps at the stages of an impulse voltage generator. CONSTITUTION:An impulse voltage generator 1A is composed by arranging choper units (G1, r1), (G2, r2),... (Gn, Rn) made of chopping gap elements G and series connectors of parallel resistors r between a main capacitor C and the series connectors (C1, g1, RS1), (C2, g2, RS2),... (Cn, gn, RSn) of series gap g and series resistors RS. In this case, the impulse voltage is generated by the cascade discharge operation of the series gaps g1, g2,... gn, gn+1, and the impulse voltage is applied to the chopping gas elements G1, G2,... Gn at this time. |
