<p>A device is used to protect the start winding and the run of an electrical machine from any overcurrent. It also comprises a means for starting the machine. The device has a resistor (17) with a positive coefficient of temperature. The resistor (17) is series with the starting winding and decreasing the current to the wnding after a set interval. There is also a bimetal disc (13) in series with the run winding of the machine. A heater winding (27) is also in series with the run winding and the disc (13). On overload or overcurrent, the heater winding (27) and the bimetal disc (13) increases in temperature and the moving contacts (35, 37) move away from the fixed contacts (97, 99) of the terminals (29, 33). The circuit to the run winding is then open.</p> |
