<p>A seed sowing drill has the seeds stored in a hopper (1) in which a rotating platform (5) is installed. This platform has a ring of holes (9) into which the seeds fall. As the platform rotates each hole (9) passes over a hole (13) in a stationary platform (12), the individual seeds fall through into one of a number of pipes (38) which direct the seeds to the soil. The seed is transported by air pressure in a pipe (29) from the base of the hopper (1). The seed is deposited on the apex of a cone (19) and falls towards a surrounding wall (15). This wall has a number of slots forming apertures along its lower edge which allow the seeds to pass through to the holes in the rotating platform. There is a slot for each distributor pipe. When the full number of distributor pipes is not required the corresponding slots can be blanked off.</p> |
