PURPOSE:To achieve a phase shifter where the phase difference is equal when electromagnetic waves pass through bidirectionally by providing a circular polarized wave generator across a ferrimagnetic substance, and two Faraday rotatory elements with reverse molar susceptibility at the middle of both generators and a 180 degree plate. CONSTITUTION:Circular polarized wave generators 6, 7 having four permanent magnet plates so that N and S poles are opposed around the side of a plated ferrimagnetic substance 1 are provided at both ends, and Faraday rotatory elements 9, 10 and a 180 degree plate 8 are provided between the generators, and a yoke 3 and a magnetizing lead 2 are provided with the elements 9, 10 so that magnetization M remains inversely. When a current flows to the lead 2, reversing magnetization component remains in the elements 9, 10. When a linear polarized wave incident to the direction D passes through the element 9, a right rotatory circular polarized wave 1 receives the phase change in phi'-theta', where phi' is the phase advance of the ferrimagnetic substance 1 from demagnetized state, and the wave 1 is converted into a left rotatory polarized wave L passing through the next 180 degree plate 8.
