PURPOSE:To obtain a light recording material capable of repeating regeneration and erasion, by irradiating the surface of a Ge-S type glass containing a specified proportion of Ge, and silver with light in order to deposit a thin metallic film onto the surface, and fixing the light-irradiated image on the irradiated part. CONSTITUTION:A glass plate containing 17-30atomic %, and silver in addition is sealed in a transparent sealed tube evacuated to <=10<-3>mm.Hg, for example, so as to give Ge22S45Ag33, melted in a melting furnace heated to 800-1,000 deg.C for about 8hr and stirred. A block of glass quenched in water is taken out, sliced to about 3mm. width, the surface is mirror polished, and a plate 5 for use in image irradiation is thus obtained. The plate 5 is exposed to light emitted from a high-pressure mercury arc lamp, converged with a lens system 2, and passed through a thermal ray cut filter 3 and, for example, a circular mask pattern 4 to form the silver image 2 of the pattern 4 on the surface 1 of the plate 5 as shown in the figure. When the image 2 is irradiated with the light more intense than said light, the silver diffuses into the inner part of the glass and disappears. When the plate 5 is covered with 50-30nm thick gold or the like, the image 2 is fixed so as not to disappear. Since the thickness of silver of the image 2 is about 300nm, the plate 5 can be reused by polishing and removing it. |
