PURPOSE:To improve the heat transmitting performance of a heat exchanger, by improving wetness of heat transfer pipes through employment of such an arrangement that the distance between heat transfer pipes at a higher stage and those at a lower stage is made larger than the outer diameter of the heat transfer pipes. CONSTITUTION:Distance D between heat transfer pipes at a higher stage and those at a lower stage is selected to be larger than the outer diameter R of heat transfer pipes 4a, 4b. Resultantly, mist can be carried toward heat transfer pipes located at rear rows since the amount of mist passed through between heat transfer pipes 4a and 4b at each row is fairly great. Further, droplets of water 7 depended from the bottom of pipes 4a, 4b are scattered by mist flow and the scattered droplets 7a drop onto heat transfer pipe located at rear rows, thus improving wetness of the heat transfer pipes. By thus not only increasing the amount of mist carried to heat transfer pipes at rear rows but also improving wetness of the heat transfer pipes at the rear rows, it is enabled to improve the heat transmitting performance of the heat transfer pipes. |
