Anti-skid chain for motor vehicle tyres

Anti-skid chain which is intended for motor vehicle tyres and can also be used on tyres on which it does not fit satisfactorily and which can be subsequently tightened automatically during driving. The anti-skid chain has transverse chains which cross the tread area of the tyre and are attached with their end eyelets to flexible tensioning elements running in the region of the side walls of the tyre in the circumferential direction of the tyre, the ends of which elements are attached in pairs to in each case one hoop which engages over the tread area, which hoops continue on the outside of the wheel as far as the centre of the wheel and are connected there so as to be mutually pivotable in parallel with the plane of the wheel. The ends, of the two hoops, located in the region of the centre of the wheel are connected via an elastic element to the part, lying radially opposite, of the tensioning element located on the outside of the wheel and the two hoops can be tensioned with respect to one another by means of a tightener provided with a spring.
