PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in the power of a gas laser tube due to the decomposition of gas by alternately providing more than two sets of gas inlets and gas outlets in one discharge passage, and arranging them at an equal interval, thereby supplying always new mixture gas to the discharge passage. CONSTITUTION:An anode 12 is formed at the center of a glass discharge tube 11, and cathodes 13, 14 are provided at both ends. More than two sets of gas inlets 15 and gas outlets 16 are alternately arranged approximately over the entire region of the tube 11, and are disposed at an equal interval. Brewster's windows made of ZnSe or the like are provided so that laser light can pass at both ends of the tube 11. Then, a mixture gas of CO2 gas, N2 gas and He gas flowed from the inlets 15 is exhausted from the gas outlet 16 in the vicinity to shorten the period of time that the gas is exposed with the discharge, thereby hardly producing the decomposition of the gas. Thus, fresh mixture gas can be always supplied to the discharge passage, thereby preventing the decrease in the power due to the decomposition of the gas. |
