An apparatus for the manufacture of plastics, for example polyurethane foams, from separate components, comprises high pressure pumps 3, Fig. 1, connected through conveyer pipes 4, 6 to injection nozzles opening into a common mixing chamber 5, and a liquid reservoir 1 connected to each of said conveyer pipes, said reservoir including a piston 21, Fig. 2, arranged to be freely movable in a bore in the reservoir housing, a spring 23 attached to the piston and a stop bolt 24 in the longitudinal axis of said piston at the end near the spring and disposed at some distance from the end of the piston. If when the apparatus is started an excess of component occurs in pipe 4, the piston is displaced from its starting position and moves toward the stop bolt, the position of which may be adjusted by micrometer screw 25. Thus initial variations in component ratio, viscosity and compressibility of the components, rates of discharge from the mixing chamber of the product, and volume of the conveyer pipes and output tolerances are corrected.</p> |
