The means for spanning expansion joints has metallic edge-termination borders which are constructed from simple iron sections (10, 30 and 40, 50), some of which are commercially available. The iron sections are welded together. This means that they can be easily adapted to the relevant situation. For a covering thickness (H1), the U-section moulding (10) is welded onto the moulding (30) anchored in the concrete (B1). For the larger covering thickness (H2), the U-section moulding (40) is welded onto the L-section moulding (50), and the latter is connected to the moulding (51) anchored in the concrete substructure (B2). The elastomeric expansion profile strip (G) spanning the joint gap (F) is pressed onto the upper flange (11, 41) of the U-section moulding (10, 40) by means of the clamping bar (20, 20'). For this purpose, use is made of the grub screws (22, 22') which are supported on the lower flange and are screwed into the clamping bar. <IMAGE>
