PURPOSE:To disperse and form uniformly a spacer consisting of alumina powder on a transparent substrate provided with a transparent electrode, by coating the dispersing liquid of alumina powder on the transparent substrate while rotating the transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:A solvent 13 is charged in a vessel 11, and alumina powder 12 having a desired grain size is dispersed in the solvent 13 to obtain a coating liquid 14. Meanwhile, guides 16 and 16 are used to set a transparent substrate 1, which is provided with a transparent electrode 2, onto the table of a spinner 15, and the coating liquid 14 is dropped onto the substrate 1 while rotating the spinner 15 to disperse the coating liquid 14 in the direction of an arrow, and the substrate 1 is subjected to the heat treatment at about 110 deg.C for about 30min to form a spacer 17 consisting of alumina powder 12 on the surface of the substrate 1. Next, by the conventional method, this substrate 1 and another substrate 1' (provided with a transparent electrode 2') are superposed through a seal material 5 and are caused to adhere to each other by calcination, and a liquid crystal 3 is sealed in them to form a liquid crystal panel (4 and 4' in figure indicate polarizing plates). |
