<p>Tyre is moulded by (a) placing on a first mould part a tyre carcase with its beads more widely separated from each other than the other parts of the tyre, (b) inflating a diaphragm so that it enters the carcase, (c) closing a second mould part on the first mould part to deform the carcase into a C-shaped cross section, and (d) simultaneously with (c) displacing several segments capable of moulding a tread onto the carcase both axially and towards the interior of the moulding cavity, the axial displacement of the segments coinciding essentially with the axial displacement of the tread or the carcase during its deformation. Gives accurate moulding of the tread pattern, including the tyre shoulders.</p> |
