Arrangement is described for decanting a radioactive or toxic sample from bottle delivered via a tubular distribution system into a container involVes using a needle head system. The needle head system penetrates a membrane at the head end of the sample bottle and can be cleaned after each decanting process. For decanting the bottle (4), needle head system (11,12) and container (17) are moved together on a common axis (10). The bottle and container are moved along the axis relative to the needle head system. For cleaning the needle head system (11,12) can be swung out of its position on the axis (10) into a cleaning head and then back again. The bottle is moved onto the axis in a capsule which receives it from the delivery system.
