MULTIPLE-POINT RESISTANCE WELDING

Several electrodes (6) are attached in an electrically insulated manner to a common force-transmission plate (5). Allocated to each electrode (6) is an isolating switch (30) which can electrically connect the electrode (6) to the plate (5). The plate (5) and a second force-transmission plate (10) which carries the opposite electrodes (11) are attached to the pole of a single source of welding current. The workpieces are clamped between all electrodes (6) and opposite electrodes (11). Preselected groups of electrodes (6) are then fed successively with the welding current. A very large number of points lying close together can be welded in a small space with the apparatus, while the workpieces are clamped between all electrodes and opposite electrodes in such a way as to be protected against deformation.
